Granites and other intrusive rocks are used as quarry or decorative stone. Crushed stone is made of rock varieties with low decorative qualities or strong cracking. It is used to make concrete fillers, ballasts for road or railway pavement. Large pieces of these rocks are also used in construction when building breakwaters. Intrusive rocks, with good decorative properties and cracks, allowing the extraction of large blocks, are used to build monuments, monumental buildings, exterior and interior cladding, columns, curbstones and pavers. Depending on the use, the industrial requirements for the raw material are different. The most important industrial properties for crushed stone are: strength, hardness (wear resistance) and frost resistance. For rocks with decorative properties, the requirements are significantly more numerous. These are: color, uniformity of color, iridescent porphyries, hardness, structure of the rock (fine-grained, medium-grained and coarse-grained-porphyry), uniformity of structure, porosity, wear resistance, frost resistance, compressive strength, stratification of the scale, the presence of scale of sulphides and sulphates, etc.
